Description

This will be a short visit to refugees in Calais, France. The team will spend 2 days in Calais. We will discuss and learn about asylum issues, pray, visit with refugees and participate with some of the groups giving assistance.

Description

IAFR will take a short term team to Malta to serve among refugees for one week.

Team members from the USA should arrive on April 19th in Lille, France.

The cost will be US$ 610 or € 450* and includes all expenses and travel from Lille, France, to Malta. Additional travel and personal expenses are not included.

Accompany IAFR President, Tom Albinson, on his March 2012 visit to Kakuma refugee camp in remote northwestern Kenya where we will deepen our relationships with the United Refugee Churches (URC) and National Council of Churches, Kenya.

Among other things, we will specifically meet with refugee church leaders from the URC to...

• work on details related to promoting the Bibles for Refugees project
• work on content for the URC website project
• work on a project proposal for a URC building project
• learn from URC about the cirriculum and materials used for their 3 year Leadership Training School.

Team Size: Limit of 2 persons

Requirements:

• Minimum Age: 21 years
• Gender: Male
• Complete IAFR online short-term application
• Complete all vaccinations recommended by CDC prior to trip (non reimbursable)
• Healthy personal immune system
• Physical capacity to walk long distances and stand for extended periods of time
• Physical capacity to cope with extreme heat and intense sun
• Emotional stability to cope with unexpected circumstances
• Ability to live in very simple conditions

Description

We will join 30-50 other riders mostly from local humanitarian groups and supporters for the annual Jungletour. We will ride about 200-300 km throughout the region in order to visit 5-6 unofficial refugee locations and those groups who are assisting. The ride will last 10 days with time on each end for preparation and debriefing as an IAFR team. Arrangements can be made locally to rent bikes.
